It is beneficial for your skin because it is said to be packed with vitamins and minerals, rubbing it on skin fast forwards healing of broken skin and improves complexion, ingesting it proves to be very beneficial in detoxifying the whole body.

  • Contains antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal properties:

As we have seen above, Gomutra contains many actives such as creatinine, carbolic acid, urea, calcium and manganese, which give it strong antimicrobial properties, Cow urine has also shown remarkable antibacterial activity due to the presence of amino acids and urinary peptides, last but not the least as it contains phenolic acids like Gallic acid, ferulic acid, o-coumarin, cinnamic acid and salicylic acid giving it antifungal properties thus proving to be good for several skin-related issues and diseases.

You can use Gomutra topically on open wounds or pimple marks and abrasions, dilute it in water and apply it on the infected area, use purified Gomutra for the same, it has shown significantly increased wound closure in diabetic people as well.

  • Detoxifies our blood:

Gomutra is believed to be a blood purifier thus proving to be a treatment for any sort of skin disease. As we know skin ailments are mainly caused due to accumulated toxins in the blood, purification of blood ultimately causes our skin to be radiant and disease-free. Gomutra should be ingested in distilled form, not more than 2-3 drops should be consumed in the beginning, you can increase the quantity a bit as per your need. It can be consumed by diluting it with water or in buttermilk whichever way you may prefer.

A spotless complexion can be attained with Gomutra, you can try this regimen, where you should first massage your face with cow’s milk for approximately 10 minutes, then massage it with Gomutra for 15 minutes, you can also apply a face mask after that.

  • Helps in hair growth and prevention of dandruff:

As cow urine is believed to have fungicidal effects and antioxidant properties, thus it can be used as an effective treatment for dandruff which is caused due to fungi.You can apply it by making a hair mask, adding yoghurt to two tablespoons of Gomutra and whisking it till viscous, apply it to your scalp for 10-15 minutes before shampooing.


Ayurveda has quite a few uses of Gomutra, and it is used in different ailments with different materials, in different forms, neem and Gomutra can be used as a gargle, whereas, external application of pure urine for wounds and cuts, with water and salt for nasal treatments, there is no end to the proposed benefits of Gomutra.
